Howdy!
My name is Spinner. Mom say’s I’m a “Yorkie”, even though I think she must be wrong. I sure don’t feel like a little dog. . .I have a big dog personality and a big doggie heart! Even though I only weigh about 10 lbs. She says she has to cut me like a “Schnauzer”, because I like to be outside all of the time, and if my hair was long it would just get in my way. I think she’s right about that one. My color is bluish gray and almost white. They call me a “blue and tan”. So along with my haircut I really fool people. They don’t know what to think I am!
Mom says we are “retired”. So me and my family travel around in a big RV called a Fifth Wheel and we move from coast to coast and border to border just about every year! I love to travel. . .it’s my next best thing to do. My first choice is to go hiking with my “dad-type person” I call Rick. We hike for hours and I never get bored.
One of my favorite things about this traveling around, is I can usually find a brand new lap to set on every day. I’m not shy at all, and laps are another one of my favorite things. People really think I’m cute, so they never mind if I decide to set with them a bit.
I’d like to share my adventures with you all every once in awhile, because I feel like I’m a lucky pup and Mom says sharing is very important. I’ll try to write to you faithfully and let you know all about the great big world we live in. Mom says I’m a very faithful friend. . .whatever that is. . . .it must be a good thing to be. . .because she gives me treats for it.
Until the next time – Guess I’ll be movin’ on down the road.
Your Best Bud,
Spinner

Hi Everyone,
Spinner here. I hope you had a great Thanksgiving and that you are getting ready for the rest of the Holidays. Mom says I’ve been a very good pup. . .so I’m hoping for a nice new squeaky toy and some yummy special pup treats in my Christmas stocking. In our house, we celebrate the Christmas part of the holiday season.
We’ve been traveling on our way west for the winter. We stopped at our home in Texas for the Thanksgiving holiday. I like Texas! It’s so BIG here and it sort of reminds me of my home in Michigan with the rolling hills, elm trees and pine trees. Mom says it never snows here. .or almost never. It’s starting to get a bit chilly at night, and I like to sleep in mornings…with my head tucked under the covers!
There are lots of places to take nice long walks here in Texas, and we live by a lake. The lake has a lot of ducks. . .which I would love to chase, but I have to be good and walk on my leash. It’s the same way with the squirrels. They sure are fast critters and it amazes me that they can climb right up the trees. I’ve tried and tried to follow them up, but I just keep falling down. No matter how high I jump, I can’t get a good foothold. They go way to the top and even jump from tree to tree! It drives me crazy how they can do that!!
The other day I was out walking with my Mom and Rick, (my Dad person) and I had a big surprise! We were walking along, minding our own business. I was watching some deer that live here in the park, and all of a sudden I heard barking! I looked all over the place for another dog taking a walk. . .but no matter where I looked I couldn’t find a dog! Then I spotted a man walking towards us. I watched carefully as he came closer to us, but I did not see another dog with him. Instead, on his shoulder there was a big bird! This bird was much bigger than my Cockatiel bird friends that live with me at home. In fact it was about twice the size of Phoenix and Pauley put together! The bird was a silvery, gray color, with a red stripe at the bottom of his tail. I couldn’t believe my ears, but this bird was BARKING, he was barking right at me!!!!! My Mom and Rick just laughed and laughed at my confusion!
We stopped and talked to the man with the bird. I learned that the bird was called an African Gray Parrott. I also found out his name was Petie. He was very smart. He could bark like all kinds of dogs, and sound like any kind of bird he wanted to sound like. One of his favorite games to play is barking at any dog he meets. He talks up a storm, and likes to give kisses. . .that he follows with a loud “smacking” sound. The man said a command word to the bird, and he laid on his back and curled up like a ball. . .and he let the man gently toss him into the air over and over again catching him each time. What a great new friend to meet!
You just never know in this full-time “RV” life that we lead, what kind of interesting people or new friends you will meet, or what is around the next bend. Mom says that is why we enjoy it so much, and I agree.
We will be moving on down the road this weekend, so I will be writing about another adventure for you next month. In the meantime, have a very wonderful Holiday Season and a safe New Year.
Your bud,
Spinner

Spinner With His Friend, Snowy

March 2006 Hi Everyone!
Does anyone know what a “Flying Tomato” is? My mom person went crazy about a “Flying Tomato” the last few weeks! It seemed to have something to do about what she called the “Winter Olympics”. She was watching the television almost all the time, and it was hard to get her to take me out for walks! She kept talking about things like “snow boarding”, ‘skiing”, “ice skating”,"bobsledding” and all kinds of other words I can’t remember. She got excited a lot, clapped a lot and even screamed a couple of times!! She said she wanted the USA (she said that is our Country) to get lots of medals made of gold, silver or bronze, whatever those things are.
Finally, on one of the days when I was trying to get her to play with me, she said she was sorry for not paying much attention to me. All of a sudden she picked me up and gave me a big hug and a nice pat and said that she thought it would be good to have a “Doggy Olympics:” She said that they could have contests to see who could run fastest, jump the highest, find the most bones, do the most tricks and all kinds of other neat things. Sounds kind of like fun to me. I have a lot of energy. I’ll bet I could make the “team!”
Later that day, Mom and Rick took me out for a long, long hike. They said it was to burn off some of the energy I’d saved up all of the days of the “Winter Olympics”. We went way across the desert and explored some new places. We were gone for a long time. Rick ran with me and we climbed a couple of foothills. We had such a nice time. I ran and ran, Mom said it was like I was trying to be an “Olympian!” Mom and Rick laughed at me.
Finally, we started for home. Boy was I tired, I finally lay down to take a bit of a rest. I nearly fell right to sleep in the middle of the trail. Rick picked me up and carried me most of the rest of the way home What a nice day it had been. . . ..(yawn...). . .really worth waiting for. . .while my mom person watched the. . . . O … lym…..pics…. (yawn). Hmmm .I still don’t know what. . . a flying. …tomato is. . . . . . . . .ZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.
